As a small terminus served soley by multiple units, the old GWR station at Birmingham Moor Street was not exactly an enthusiast magnet. Even journeys to places such as Leamington Spa were better made from New Street as this would entail more interesting loco haulage. Today Moor Street stands derelict, a new station having been built on the adjacent running lines reinstated through to Snow Hill. Thankfully I did manage a few photos which are all the more interesting for featuring DMUs in the shortlived refurbished white livery.
The final shots show a multiple unit leaving the station above the rooftops of the Digbeth and Bordesley areas of Birmingham. The other viaduct in the background was built by the Birmingham and Oxford Junction Railway in the 1800s to link Bordesley with Curzon Street Station and is famous for never having been used.
It would be nice to do a "then and now" comparison at this location but unfortunately the multi-storey car park from which these views were taken has recently been demolished.
